DANVERS, MA - Samsung is pleased to announce that its full line of computed tomography systems, including BodyTom® and CereTom®, are compliant with Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) Smart Dose (XR-29) radiation dose reporting standards.  All new systems sold are 100% compliant, and any installed system can easily be upgraded to include these new features. National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) XR-29, also known as the MITA Smart Dose Standard, is a quality initiative to promote patient safety and public health in CT diagnostic imaging. Samsung is dedicated to customer centric innovation and providing the industry with the tools and resources they need to keep patients and clinicians safe.

NEMA Standard XR-29 identifies common CT system attributes that contribute to or help perform dose optimization/management of ionizing radiation while still enabling the system to deliver the diagnostic image quality needed by the physician. These attributes include DICOM radiation dose structured reporting, pediatric and adult reference protocols, CT dose check, and automatic exposure control. The intent of this new standard is to ensure patient safety and provider compliance that elevates the quality of care.

“Samsung fully supports the MITA Smart Dose Standard and ensuring that our CT systems meet this critical new industry standard was an important objective that we are pleased to have achieved. We understand the need to deliver high diagnostic image quality at the lowest dose required. Samsung prides itself on designing solutions for radiation dose management, always with patient safety in mind” said Philip Sullivan, Samsung, NeuroLogica Division, President & CEO.

Samsung will showcase its dose management solutions in booth #7313 at the Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting (RSNA), November 29th through December 4th in Chicago, IL.
