NeuroLogica Honored at Premier, Inc.’s Annual Supplier Innovation Celebration
DANVERS, Massachusetts – July 17, 2024 – NeuroLogica announced that it will be honored during Premier, Inc.’s annual supplier Innovation Celebration at the 2024 Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition. The Innovation Celebration recognizes groundbreaking healthcare technologies launched throughout the year and the ways these products are helping to improve the health of communities.
This award recognizes NeuroLogica’s OmniTom® Elite PCD mobile CT scanner that utilizes NeuroLogica’s proprietary detector technology, Photon Counting Detector (PCD). This new technology enables clinicians to make a confident diagnosis using the improved clinical information. Conventional energy integrating detectors provide average attenuation coefficients, whereas photon counting detectors measure energy-dependent attenuation characteristics and then provide compositional information for individual materials in the body. This technology lives on NeuroLogica’s OmniTom® Elite mobile CT scanner, which was designed to bring imaging directly to the bedside in order to reduce risks associated with transporting critically ill patients to the radiology department for imaging.
With PCD, the energy of incident x-ray photons can be directly measured as an electric charge cloud relevant to the x-ray photon attenuation coefficient of tissue through which the x-rays have passed.
PCD captures the X-ray photon directly at the detector and instantly converts the energy to electrical signals. This is different than conventional energy integrating detectors in current CT scanners, which convert the photons to light and then to electrical signals.
